Everyone loves having their own identity in Fortnite. Using a default Fortnite skin just doesn’t feel the same. That’s why many players chase new outfits, back blings, pickaxes, emotes, and gliders. Each cosmetic changes how your character moves, looks, and feels, which turns every match into a more personal experience.
But not everyone wants (or can afford) to spend real money on skins. Some players simply prefer to earn their rewards through gameplay, while others like collecting every skin Fortnite offers without touching V-Bucks. Luckily, Fortnite’s free skins make that possible.
Epic Games sometimes rewards players to unlock free outfits, whether it’s by leveling up in a certain season, completing event challenges, or linking an Epic account to a partner platform (like PlayStation, LEGO, or Twitch). These offers reward loyal players, help new ones stand out, and sometimes promote limited-time collaborations that everyone can benefit from.Â

Last Updated: December 2025 — “This list is refreshed every time a new free Fortnite skin becomes available.Â
As of December 2025, there are eight free Fortnite skins that you can claim easily. For some, you would need some XP to level up and claim it, and for others, you need to do certain tasks to get it for free. We now have some new free skins that have been announced in the new Fortnite Chapter 7, Season 1. One of these skins, called Mr. Dappermint, can be unlocked the same way as the Explorer Emilie outfit. Personally, I found it surprising that Mr. Dappermint is now free, considering I purchased the bundle during last Winterfest. While it’s great to see it being offered for free to everyone, I can’t help but wonder if Fortnite will compensate players like me who purchased it earlier.

Fortnite often gives free rewards including skins, through various methods. Here are a few ways you can earn these rewards completely free. (Note: Some methods may not be currently active, but we’ll update this list as changes occur.)
The seasonal events and limited time quests often rewards players with free items, including cosmetics and skins.
You can participate in the tournaments to earn exclusive rewards which sometimes include skins.
Many Fortnite content creators on platforms like YouTube and Twitch host giveaways, offering free skins and items to their followers.
Sometimes, Fortnite will launch a refer-a-friend campaign where inviting friends to play the game can earn you free rewards.
This option isn’t free, but it’s definitely worth the investment. If you subscribe to Fortnite Crew for £9.99 or $11.99 monthly, you will receive an exclusive outfit and a matching accessory every month. The subscription also includes 1,000 V-Bucks and access to the current Battle Pass (or its equivalent V-Bucks if you already own it).
Even if you cancel the subscription, you will retain the previously unlocked skins, v-bucks, and the battle pass. Additionally, with the V-Bucks earned through the Battle Pass, you can purchase more skins or even save up to buy the next season’s Battle Pass and then collect XP to unlock more skins.
Additionally, we’ve also covered the best loadouts in Fortnite, which we update with every new chapter or season release. If you want to truly outperform the competition, it’s not just about using the right weapons and items, your Fortnite settings play a huge role as well. Having the best loadout combined with properly optimized settings can give you a real advantage in fights. And if you’re looking to unlock even more cosmetics, there are also legitimate ways to earn free V-Bucks, allowing you to buy paid skins without spending real money.
