How to Earn V-Bucks in Fortnite Save the World?

If you have been playing Fortnite since the early days, you probably remember Save the World, the original co-op mode that came before Battle Royale took over. Back then, it was the best way to earn free V-Bucks through normal gameplay.

Even today, Save the World (StW) still gives out V-Bucks — but only to a specific group of players known as Founders. These are the players who purchased early access before Epic Games stopped selling Founder’s Packs in mid-2020.

If you did not buy the game before that point, you can still play Save the World, but you will not earn any V-Bucks from it. Instead, you’ll receive X-Ray Tickets, which can only be used within that mode.

“Trust Fortnite Loaded”: This Save the World guide was written and reviewed by long-time Fortnite players who still play the original co-op mode regularly. Every detail is based on verified in-game missions, Founder account data, and real player experiences collected from the Fortnite community in 2025.

Who Can Still Earn V-Bucks in Save the World

Note: This information is based on updates confirmed by Epic Games and long-time Save the World players in the Fortnite community. You can always double-check the latest changes on the official Fortnite Save the World page.

Only Founder accounts can earn V-Bucks in StW. Everyone else receives different in-game currencies.

If you are a Founder, you have access to several repeatable and one-time sources of V-Bucks, such as daily quests, Storm Shield defenses, challenges, and limited-time mission alerts.

Here is how Founders can still collect hundreds of V-Bucks each week.

📅 Daily Quests

Founders get one daily quest each day, and up to three can stack if you miss a few days. These quests usually reward between 100 and 150 V-Bucks after recent updates.

They are simple tasks, such as “eliminate a certain number of husks” or “destroy objects with a specific weapon.” Completing these every day can earn you around 700 or more V-Bucks per week.

If you are a newer player (non-Founder), you will still receive daily quests, but your rewards will be X-Ray Tickets, not V-Bucks.

Storm Shield Defense Missions

In Save the World, you defend your home base against waves of husks. Each time you expand your Storm Shield, you get a one-time V-Buck reward.

There are 10 Storm Shield Defense missions in total for each major zone (Stonewood, Plankerton, Canny Valley, and Twine Peaks). You’ll earn 100 V-Bucks for each defense, and 150 V-Bucks for the 10th one.

After finishing the main story defenses, there are also Challenge Shields that give smaller V-Buck rewards for extra completions. These are limited but can help you squeeze out a few more rewards as you progress.

⚔️ Mission Alerts (Mini-Boss Missions)

Every day, certain special missions on the StW map offer V-Buck rewards. These are called Mini-Boss Missions or Mission Alerts.

Each completed Mini-Boss mission gives upto 50 V-Bucks, and the available ones rotate daily. Usually, there are a few active at a time, and players check third-party trackers to find out which missions currently have V-Bucks.

If you play consistently, Mission Alerts can bring in a few hundred V-Bucks per week in addition to your daily quests.

🎯 Challenge Quests

Challenge quests are another solid way to earn V-Bucks, but they are more long-term. They include tasks like “destroy a certain number of Mist Monsters” or “complete a set number of missions.”

Each challenge stage gives 50 V-Bucks, and there are several stages for each challenge type. Completing them all can total up to a few thousand V-Bucks over time.

Old Event Questlines (Historical Rewards)

In the early years of Fortnite, seasonal events like Fortnitemares (2018) or Road Trip used to include V-Buck rewards. Unfortunately, Epic stopped adding V-Bucks to event questlines after 2018.

These days, events still happen in Save the World, but they focus on special weapons, heroes, and tickets, not V-Bucks.

If you see old YouTube videos claiming that events still drop V-Bucks, those are from older versions of the game and no longer apply in 2025.

🚫 Should You Buy Save the World Now for V-Bucks?

Once again, if you are not a Founder, buying Save the World today will not give you access to any V-Buck rewards.

Epic removed that feature years ago, so all new buyers receive X-Ray Tickets instead. Many players learned this the hard way, thinking they could earn V-Bucks after purchase.

If you already own a Founder account, that’s great. You can still earn hundreds of free V-Bucks per week by doing your daily tasks. But if you don’t, do not buy Save the World expecting free V-Bucks.

⚠️ Avoid Buying Founder Accounts

Founder accounts can still earn V-Bucks; some people try to buy used ones online. This is risky and a complete waste of money.

Founder accounts are being resold on sketchy sites for thousands of dollars, sometimes even $3,000 or more. These accounts also violate Epic Games’ terms of service, which means they can be banned at any time once detected.

Even worse, many “Founder” listings are scams. Sellers often reclaim the account later through Epic’s recovery system, leaving buyers locked out.

It is much safer to earn V-Bucks through legitimate methods, such as official giveaways and promotions, or simply buy them directly from Epic when needed. Spending thousands on a used account for a small daily reward makes no sense.

Save the World remains one of the most rewarding Fortnite modes ever made, but only for those who joined early. If you are a Founder, you can still rack up a few hundred free V-Bucks each week by completing simple PvE objectives.

For everyone else, it’s better to focus on other legitimate ways to earn free V-Bucks; one such method is the free Battle Pass rewards, which are accessible to every player today.

The key takeaway is simple: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Stick with legitimate in-game methods, and you’ll never risk your account or waste your money.
